This is a VERY old--I think just past the turn of the century or maybe the 1920s? As you can see it is very well-built saw that looks really neat when operating with its large cast iron wheels turning and its metal adjusting cranks etc. I list it as a 24" cut, but it is actually about 24-1/2" from the blade to the inside of the arch at the farthest point. It was not welded that well, so without much work you could just grind it off and take the channel of and maybe see who the maker is. It would be kind of a fun surprise to get that piece off and see what is under it.
I looked closely at the arch, and it doesn't look like any part of it was cracked or damaged in any way, so I think they just welded that piece on to make it stronger. I dont know why because it looks plenty strong to me. It also has some really high quality antique cast iron ball bearing casters that say "Service" on them. I used to use it quite a bit and it worked really well, but I have not used it for years now, so I figure I should just give it a new home. One of the pulleys still has the rubber on it, but the others were missing the rubber so I just used a section of inner tube and that worked great for me. The electric motor does not go with the saw because I need it for another piece of machinery, but you would want a more vintage motor for it anyway to keep it authentic. If don't want the wooden cabinet you don't have take it. This is a really neat piece of history and would really add a great atmosphere to that antique look in your wood or metal shop. Just let me know if you have any questions or need more measurements. Thanks for viewing this listing.
